Morning wood, also known as nocturnal penile tumescence (NPT), is the term used to describe the erection that many men get on their own the moment they wake up. Even while morning wood is a typical and healthy physiological occurrence, fertility is not directly associated with it. Rather, the intricate interaction of vascular, neurological, and hormonal components leads to morning erections.

The Rapid Eye Movement (REM) phase of sleep, which is when most vivid dreams take place, is often linked to morning wood. The brain transmits impulses that have the potential to cause an erection during this phase. Although the precise causes of these nocturnal erections remain unclear, male sexual health experts see them as typical.

Contrarily, the capacity to create healthy sperm and effectively fertilize an egg is the main component of fertility. A healthy reproductive system and normal sexual function are often linked to overall reproductive health, even if the presence of morning wood does not explicitly indicate fertility.
