Well, both of the hip replacement surgeries can cause pain, but anterior is considered less painful and has a faster recovery.

  • Posterior hip replacement surgery involves cutting muscles, which can cause more pain and take a long recovery period.
  • The posterior approach has a high risk of nerve damage. And this approach also requires lots of precaution after surgery.
  • Anterior hip replacement surgery doesn’t involve any cutting of muscles, so it causes less pain and has a fast recovery.
  • There is a much lower risk of dislocation after surgery; it involves faster recovery with less pain.

Most doctors prefer to choose anterior hip replacement surgery, as it is considered less painful with faster recovery, and even though it requires a short hospital stay with less riskof any damage.
