Covering an area of roughly 244.04 acres, this temporary water body (tank bed) boasts a high concentration of Karijali trees (Acacia nilotica), which provide a breeding and roosting habitat for the water fowl. Through the Karnataka Forest Department's conservation efforts, a once dry tank was transformed into a hotspot for nesting birds, a success story known as Ankasamudra Bird Conservation Reserve (ABCR).
